Shisha embroidery on Sari Blouse

After the crochet skirt, I was supposed to focus on Brazilian embroidery - but before I could, a friend needed help. She had brought along with her from India a plain blouse and a raw silk sari and  lots of beads and mirrors. Her initial plan was to work mirrors and beads on the entire sari.

Well, you now know that she didn't do it  and that's why I am writing this post ..{ big grin}

To cut the long story short - my friend keeps track of fashion trends and she came to know that two styles are trending now - contrast in sari and blouse (so a red blouse for blue sari) and plain sari with embroidered blouse. So, all her plans changed and she wanted to embellish the blouse.

But she didn't know mirror work and even YouTube couldn't help her. Her husband also tried ( Can you imagine that?? - lucky girl!!! ) She told me this..and here we are..

This is one side with gold beads. Easy peasy..and this was done by her. Doesn't it look awesome?

The mirrors had already been glued.  Her plan was to leave it like that, but it didn't look good. I couldn't let that happen, could I?

Here's the close up. The material is raw silk .I am doing the traditional grid based shisha stitch, nothing fancy. I was keen on trying gold thread around shisha, but she wanted red. Well, she knows better.
If you look closely, you can see the jagged edges of the mirrors. It was not a smooth ride . :)

The bottom row is done. Now I need to start off the top row. Her wedding anniversary falls on the second half of November and this is the attire for the special occasion.

Let me finish this off..
Till then,
Love,luck and sunshine,
Deepa
